Educational Background
Adam Bell is originally from Bryan, Ohio and is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Music for Trombone and Euphonium at ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ’s Institute of Music. He earned his M.M. in Trombone Performance at Northwestern University under the instruction of Chicago Symphony Orchestra trombonist Michael Mulcahy. Previously, he attended Bowling Green State University, where he studied trombone with Garth Simmons, principal trombone of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2012 with a B.M. in Trombone Performance. He has also studied with Jay Friedman, Michael Becker, Douglas Wright, Timothy Higgins, and Randall Hawes.
Professional Experience
He currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana as he completes his doctoral degree in Trombone Performance and Music Literature at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he held the position of Associate Instructor while studying with Carl Lenthe, Peter Ellefson and Denson Paul Pollard. He is also currently on faculty as Instructor of Trombone at Bethel University. Adam continues to remain active as a freelance musician and educator throughout Indiana and the Midwest, performing regularly with a wide variety of orchestras and ensembles including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Dubuque Symphony Orchestra among others.
Other
In addition to the trombone, Adam is also an accordionist, having studied with the late Lana Gore, internationally renowned pedagogue and professor of accordion/bayan at Wayne State University. He has won several national competitions in his division on the instrument, was involved with a Grammy nominated recording, and continues to enjoy performing in a diverse array of ensembles and genres whenever possible.
